Consistent with offender security and supervision needs, every offender will be provided the broadest possible range of programs and services; these self-improvement programs will be available equitably to male and female offenders. Programs will be scheduled in advance, and notice of those activities will be posted prominently on bulletin boards in all housing units.
Voluntary programs available will include the following:
The Major of Detentions, Captain of the Greene County Jail and the Programs Coordinator will coordinate jail planning efforts with community-related groups and interested organizations. While cooperative efforts of this type may include a wide range of agencies, special efforts will be made to consult with law enforcement agencies, officers of the courts, community leaders, and members of college and university communities to gain appropriate input into the Jail's goals, program, and services.
Cooperation with colleges and universities will include inviting faculty members and the student body to assist in institutional programming and encouraging the Jail staff to serve as lecturers, faculty, or consultants to the educational community. In addition, the jail will have programs offering selected students internship or practicum programs and will provide tour guides and special programming with the facility to encourage visitation by students involved in academic programs.
