This program was brought about by an agreement between the GCSO and the County Highway Department in 2002. The program is used to place offenders through the courts into a work program that was operated by the County Highway Department until 2014. The GCSO has the sole responsibility over the daily operations of the program full-time. The offenders are tasked with litter pickup and several other types of landscaping or beautification detail. These offenders are transported by a GCSO Detentions Deputy each day from the Greene County Jail to the job sites. The Deputy monitors and oversees the offenders' activities while performing tasks to maintain the integrity of county properties.
Any additional questions or information may be obtained by calling the Jail Administration Monday through Friday 8 am to 5 pm at (417) 868-4048.
