Dan has had the privilege of serving the citizens of Greene County as the elected prosecutor or as an assistant prosecutor since 1996. Prior to his election in 2010, Dan served as an Assistant Prosecuting Attorney, as First Assistant leading the Major Crimes Unit, and as Chief Assistant. Dan also served as a Special Assistant United States Attorney under the Project Safe Neighborhoods program. In 2019, Dan was recognized as Missouri’s Prosecutor of the Year by the Missouri Association of Prosecuting Attorneys, in part, for his work in establishing the Greene County Family Justice Center. Dan served as the president of the Missouri Association of Prosecuting Attorneys from 2021 to 2023.
Dan retired as a Lieutenant Colonel from the Missouri Army National Guard in 2017. Dan deployed with his Missouri National Guard units twice: first, with the 135th Field Artillery Brigade, in support of the homeland defense mission Operation Noble Eagle and, later as the Deputy Command Judge Advocate for Multi-National Task Force East, Kosovo Forces 10. Dan is a graduate of the Infantry Officer Basic Course, the Judge Advocate General's Corps Advanced Course, and the Command & General Staff College. Dan's military decorations include the Meritorious Service Medal, the Army Commendation Medal, and the Army Achievement Medal.
Dan is a member of the Springfield Metropolitan Bar Association and serves on the Bench and Bar Committee. Dan served on the 2024 Advisory Committee on the Missouri Criminal Code and previously served on the Missouri Task Force on Children’s Justice. He is a prior Child Advocacy Center Board of Directors member and is a past president of the Victim Center Board of Directors. Dan continues to serve our community on the Community Partnership of the Ozarks’ Child Abuse and Neglect Collaborative, Ozarks Fighting Back, and as a Board Member for the Greene County Family Justice Center Alliance. Dan is a POST certified instructor and enjoys teaching at Springfield Police Department Academy. Dan is a member of the Springfield Sunrise Rotary Club, attends Christ Episcopal Church with his family, and is an Eagle Scout.
A 1986 graduate of Springfield's Kickapoo High School, he completed his undergraduate degree majoring in Business Administration at Oklahoma State University in 1990, and obtained his law degree from the University of Missouri-Columbia School of Law in 1993, graduating Cum Laude. While attending law school, Dan was a member of the editorial board of the Missouri Law Review.
Alex returned to the Greene County Prosecutor’s Office in August of 2020 as an Assistant Prosecuting Attorney after having previously worked from 2015 to 2017 as a paralegal assigned to the Persons Unit. Alex received his undergraduate degree in Political Science from the University of Missouri in 2015, and his Juris Doctor from the University of Missouri School of Law in May of 2020. As a law student, he served as a judicial extern for the Honorable Willie J. Epps, Jr., Magistrate Judge for the Western District of Missouri, worked as a research assistant for two law school professors, and participated in the University of Missouri’s Veteran’s Clinic. In addition, Alex worked for the Missouri Attorney General’s Office within the Governmental Affairs Division, where he provided legal representation to state officers and agencies, enforced disciplinary rules for state-licensed professionals, and represented the State of Missouri before the Administrative Hearing Commission.
Andrew joined the Greene County Prosecutor’s Office in August of 2022. A native of southeast Kansas, Andrew moved to Missouri with his wife to live in her home city of Springfield. He graduated from Kansas State University in 2018 with a B.A. in English Literature. He later received his Juris Doctor from Washburn University School of Law in May 2022, graduating with a concentration in family law. While in law school, he served on the student executive boards of the Washburn Children and Family Law Center and the Christian Legal Society. He also worked in the Washburn Law Clinic, was a member of the Pro Bono Society, and served as a CASA volunteer outside of law school.
Anna Runestad joined the Grrene County Prosecutors office in August of 2023. She graduated from Iowa State University with a B.A. in Criminal Justice in 2019 and then from Drake Law School with her Juris Doctorate in 2021. During law school Anna worked with the wrongful convictions clinic, and after graduation spent a year working in landlord tenant and family law for Iowa Legal Aid in Waterloo, Iowa before moving here to Missouri to Join the Greene County Prosecutors Office.
Ashley Twibell joined the Greene County Prosecutor's Office in February of 2014. Ashley is originally from Kansas City and received her undergraduate degree from The University of Kansas. In 2012, Ashley received her Juris Doctorate degree from the University of Missouri-Kansas City School of Law. Prior to joining the Prosecutor’s office, Ashley worked at Legal Services of Southern Missouri here in Springfield. There, she primarily focused on family law cases and worked with the juvenile unit representing parents in abuse and neglect cases in Greene County. She also assisted with the Domestic Violence unit, aiding clients with obtaining orders of protection. Recently, Ashley was promoted to Senior Assistant in the Property/Fraud Unit. Prior to receiving this promotion, Ashley worked with the General Crimes Unit, where she managed various Associate Circuit Court Dockets and was the designated APA for all Greene County Traffic Bureau and Bad Check cases.
Josh joined the Greene County Prosecutor’s Office in August of 2016. Prior to joining the Office, Josh worked as an Assistant Attorney General with the Missouri Attorney General’s Office for 10 years. He spent his last 6 years with the Attorney General’s Office working primarily as a Special Prosecutor on felony cases, including several homicides, throughout the southern half of Missouri. Josh graduated summa cum laude from College of the Ozarks with a degree in Administration of Justice in 2002. He received his juris doctorate, cum laude, from Washington University School of Law in 2006. He currently focuses on assault, robbery, and burglary prosecutions.
Chris returned to the Greene County Prosecutor's Office in February of 2022. Prior to rejoining the Prosecutor's office, Chris has served as the Chief Assistant Prosecuting Attorney for Taney County, the First Assistant Prosecuting Attorney for Christian County and was the City Attorney for the City of Branson. Chris is a graduate of the University of Illinois and the University of Missouri School of Law. In his spare time he serves the City of Springfield as a member of the Planning and Zoning Commission and is also an adjunct instructor in the Finance and Risk Management Department at Missouri State University.
Nick joined the Greene County Prosecutor’s Office in September of 2015. He graduated with honors from the University of Wisconsin-Madison with a degree in History and Political Science. He received his Juris Doctor cum laude from Washington University School of Law in 2015. While in law school, Nick interned at the Criminal Litigation division of the Wisconsin Department of Justice and completed a student-practice externship at the St. Louis Circuit Attorney’s Office.
Emily first joined the Greene County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office in August of 2007. She received her undergraduate degree from Drury University and her Juris Doctorate from the University of Missouri – Columbia School of Law. Prior to becoming a licensed attorney, Emily worked in our office as a Rule 13 Intern and also with the Missouri Attorney General’s Office. During her time as an Assistant Prosecutor, Emily has handled traffic offenses, domestic assaults, sex offenses, felony assaults, robberies, and homicides. From 2012 through 2015, Emily was in private practice defending municipalities and government officials in federal civil litigation. Upon her return to the Greene County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office, she had a special assignment relating to reduction of the local jail population. She is currently on the leadership committee for the Greene County Family Justice Center and the Board of Directors for Harmony House.
Jacqueline joined the Greene County Prosecutor’s Office in April 2021. She graduated with cum laude honors from the University of California Los Angeles in 2016 with a degree in Anthropology. She went on to receive her Juris Doctor from the University of Missouri of Law in 2020. During law school, Jacqueline participated in the Criminal Prosecution Clinic, and travelled to South Africa to study comparative criminal justice systems. In addition, Jacqueline worked as a law clerk for a TGH Litigation, a firm specializing in employment discrimination and civil rights. In her final year of law school, Jacqueline served as the Chair of the Board of Advocates, and the Regional President of the Hispanic National Bar Association. Upon graduation, she was inducted into the Order of Barristers, a national honorary organization which recognizes students who excel in oral advocacy and professionalism.
Elizabeth joined the Greene County Prosecutor’s Office in August of 2015. She received her undergraduate degree from the University of Missouri in 2011. In 2015, Elizabeth received a Juris Doctor from the University of Missouri School of Law. While in law school, Elizabeth was a member of the National Moot Court team, the Trial Advocacy team, and the Journal of Dispute Resolution. During her last year of law school, Elizabeth served as Chair of the Board of Advocates. Elizabeth was named to the Order of Barristers, which recognizes students who excel in oral and written advocacy and professionalism. Elizabeth also completed internships at the Federal Public Defender in Jefferson City, the Missouri Attorney General’s Office, and a private civil firm in Columbia.
Kim joined the Greene County Prosecutor’s Office in February of 2016. She received her B.S. in Psychology, Sociology, and Criminal Justice from Drury University in 2005. Kim graduated from St. Louis University School of Law in 2010.
Conner began working for the Greene County Prosecutor’s Office in August of 2018. Conner graduated cum laude from Truman State University in 2014 with a degree in Political Science. He went on to receive his Juris Doctor from the University of Missouri School of Law in 2018. While in law school, Conner served as an Associate Managing Editor on the Missouri Law Review. He also participated in the Criminal Prosecution Clinic where he represented the State in criminal matters in Boone County, Missouri. He has also served as an intern with the United States Attorney’s Office for the Western District of Missouri.
Conor joined the Greene County Prosecutor’s Office in August of 2020. He graduated from Truman State University with a Bachelor of History degree in 2017. He received his Juris Doctor from the University of Missouri School of Law in 2020. During law school, Conor participated in the Veteran’s Clinic. He also served as an intern for the United States Attorney’s Office in Springfield and as a Rule 13 intern at the Christian County Prosecutor’s Office.
Joe joined the Greene County Prosecutor’s Office in August of 2018. He graduated from Westminster College in 2015 with a Major in Spanish and a Minor in Anthropology and Sociology. He then received his Juris Doctor from the University of Missouri-School of Law in 2018. While in law school, Joe worked his first summer as a legal intern with the Audrain County Prosecutor’s Office before working as a law clerk during the remainder of his time at law school at the firm of Jones, Schneider, and Stevens LLC in Columbia, Missouri, helping with both criminal and civil cases.
Zack graduated Summa Cum Laude in the Honors College from Southwest Missouri State University (now Missouri State University), double majoring in Criminology and Sociology. He received his Juris Doctorate from the University of Missouri-Kansas City School of Law in May 2008. Zack joined the Warrant Unit in the Greene County Prosecutor's Office in November of 2012, reviewing felony and misdemeanor cases submitted by law enforcement, preparing investigative subpoenas, and reviewing search warrant applications. In 2013, he moved to the General Crimes Unit where he focused on prosecuting driving while intoxicated offenses, minors in possession of alcohol, domestic violence, and Missouri Department of Revenue administrative license refusal hearings. In 2015, Zack was assigned to represent the Prosecutor’s Office in the Greene County Treatment Courts. Also in 2015, Zack was promoted to Senior Assistant in the Major Crimes Unit and assigned to handle a drug distribution, manufacturing, and trafficking caseload. Zack oversaw the office’s Criminal Activity Forfeiture Act cases, and the office’s United States Department of Justice Equitable Sharing Agreement. In January 2022, he was promoted to 1st Assistant Prosecuting Attorney and has led the General Crimes Unit, Restorative Justice Unit, and now the Community Safety Unit. Zack is a licensed Missouri Department of Public Safety Specialist Instructor and teaches at the Springfield Police Academy.
Ciera joined the Greene County Prosecutor’s Office in August of 2022. She grew up in Southwest Missouri. In December 2018, Ciera graduated from College of the Ozarks with a degree in English. In May of 2022, she received her Juris Doctorate from the University of Arkansas. While in law school, Ciera participated in the Summer Public Service Fellowship with the Federal Public Defenders Office in Fayetteville, Arkansas. She also worked with a private general practice firm in Springdale, Arkansas, and with the Washington County Prosecutor’s Office in Fayetteville, Arkansas.
Hannah joined the Greene County Prosecution Office in August of 2022. Prior to becoming an Assistant Prosecuting Attorney, she worked for the office as a Rule 13 intern during the summer of 2021. Hannah grew up in Mountain Home, Arkansas before she attended the University of Arkansas from 2015-2022. In 2019, she graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Journalism and Political Science. Three years later, she graduated Cum Laude with her Juris Doctorate. While in law school, Hannah clerked for Judge Brooks in the Western District of Arkansas, served as a Research Assistant, and acted as a student attorney in her school’s Defense Clinic. Hannah served in a number of leadership positions while in law school, including President of the Criminal Law Society, Caucus Chair for the Graduate and Professional Student Congress, Negotiations Chair for the Board of Advocates, and Committee Member for the Antibias and Antiracist Taskforce.
Jaycee joined the Greene County Prosecutor’s Office in August of 2021. She grew up in Southwest Missouri, and in December 2018, Jaycee graduated Summa Cum Laude from Missouri Southern State University with a degree in Criminal Justice Administration. In July 2021, she received her Juris Doctorate from Baylor University School of Law, graduating Cum Laude. While in law school, Jaycee served on the Baylor Barrister Society; participated in National Moot Court and Mock Trial teams; completed an externship with the Honorable Jeffrey Masnke, Magistrate Judge for the Western District of Texas; and interned at Parmele Law Firm in Springfield
Rachel joined the Greene County Prosecutor's Office in August of 2021. She graduated cum laude from St. Lawrence University in 2018 with a major in psychology and minors in mathematics and education. She then attended the University of Missouri School of Law and graduated with her Juris Doctorate in 2021. During law school, Rachel worked at Harper, Evans, Wade, and Netemeyer in Columbia, Missouri, and was on the editorial board of the Missouri Law Review.
Sheri joined the Greene County Prosecutor’s Office in August of 2021. She grew up in Southwest Missouri and was eager to move back home to practice law. She graduated from the University of Missouri in 2017 with a degree in Communication. Sheri received her Juris Doctor from the University of Missouri School of Law in May of 2021 where she graduated with a criminal concentration. While in law school, she participated in the Criminal Prosecution Clinic through the Boone County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office and interned for the Missouri State Public Defender. Upon graduation, Sheri was the recipient of the Edward H. Hunvald Student Prize in Criminal Justice, an award given to the student who shows the most commitment to understanding and improving the criminal justice system
Brian joined the Greene County Prosecutor's Office in January 2007, and is from Springfield, Missouri. He received a B.A. in History from Missouri State University in Springfield, graduating Summa Cum Laude. Brian graduated from the University of Missouri-Columbia School of Law in 2006.
Cheri joined the Greene County Prosecutor’s Office in December of 2016. She received her B.A. in Criminology with a minor in Sociology from Drury College (now University) in 1996. Cheri graduated from the University of Missouri-Columbia School of Law in 1999.
Cheri currently serves as Assistant Prosecuting Attorney in the Child Support Unit of the Greene County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office in Springfield, MO covering Christian and Taney Counties. She previously served as Assistant Prosecuting Attorney in Christian County, Missouri from February 2015 until November 2016, as Part-Time Assistant Prosecuting Attorney in Webster County, Missouri from September 2011 - December 2015, and as a contract Assistant Prosecuting Attorney for the City of Springfield, Missouri from 2001 – 2006. She owned and operated her own law practice from 2005 to 2015.
Erin joined the Greene County Prosecutor's Office in January 2008. She received her undergraduate and master's degrees from the University of Missouri-Columbia, majoring in Accounting. Erin graduated from the University of Missouri-Columbia School of Law in 2007.
Ethan joined the Greene County Prosecutor’s office in August of 2022 after graduating from law school with his J.D. from the University of Missouri – Kansas City. While in law school, Ethan served as the Chief Justice of the Honor Court, as well as Chief Justice of the Moot Court Board. Prior to this, Ethan received a B.A. in History from Drury University, followed by a M.A. in history from Missouri State University. Ethan currently works in the Community Safety Unit.
Kaylee joined the Greene County Prosecutor’s office in August 2023. She grew up in Springfield, but moved to North Carolina after her freshman year of high school. Kaylee graduated Magna Cum Laude from Queens University of Charlotte Honors College with a degree in Psychology and a minor in Sports Management. Kaylee received her Juris Doctorate from William H. Bowen School of Law in Little Rock, Arkansas. During law school, she worked for U.S. Probation and Pretrial Services and the Pulaski County Defender’s Office. She interned with our office during the summer of 2022 as Rule 13 and is excited to be back.
Ted joined the Greene County Prosecutor’s Office in November of 2022. He graduated from the University of Missouri – Kansas City School of Law in May of 2021 and received his B.S. in Business Administration from Montana State University in 2012. Prior to law school, Ted worked for the Montana State Auditor’s Office as a Financial Examiner and the Montana Army National Guard as an Armor Officer. During law school, Ted interned for the Montana Commissioner of Securities and Insurance and the Missouri Attorney General’s Office and was a member of the UMKC law review.
Bethany joined the Greene County Prosecutor's Office in February 2023. She received her Bachelor's from Missouri Baptist University in Criminal Justice. Bethany graduated from the University of Missouri's School of Law in 2019.
A native of Iowa City, Iowa, Spencer received a B.A. in political science from the University of Iowa in 2020, where he worked as a research assistant compiling data on the United States Supreme Court. He earned his juris doctor from the University of Missouri School of Law in 2023. While attending law school, Spencer gained experience in criminal justice and hospital administration by working for the Public Defender’s Office in Columbia, the Greene County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office, and Great River Health’s Office of General Counsel. In his free time, Spencer stays active in healthcare-policy work by speaking to healthcare workers and medical students about the diagnosis and treatment of substance-use disorders.
Nicole joined the Greene County Prosecutor’s Officer in August of 2023. She graduated summa cum laude from Millikin University in Decatur, IL with a major in English Writing, Composition, and Rhetoric with a minor in Philosophy of Law. She then attended Saint Louis University School of Law and graduated with her Juris Doctorate in 2023. During law school, Nicole interned with the Missouri State Public Defender’s Office and participated in SLU’s Criminal Defense Clinic. She also served as a research assistant for one of SLU’s professors, Chad Flanders, and worked as a teacher’s assistant for SLU’s Moot Court classes.
Joe returned to the Greene County Prosecutor’s Office in April of 2023. Joe is a native of Springfield, Missouri. Prior to rejoining the Prosecutor’s Office, Joe served as the Chief Assistant Prosecuting Attorney for Lawrence County, Missouri. He was in private practice with local law firms from 2002 to 2012. Joe is a graduate of Rhodes College and received his Juris Doctorate from St. Louis University School of Law in 1999.
Nyree joined the Greene County Prosecuting Attorney's Office in 2024. Prior to joining the Office, Nyree worked as a law clerk for the Illinois Attorney General's Office, where she assisted in the multi-state prosecution of organizations that victimize consumers by fraud, deception, or unfair competition.
Nyree graduated from Webster University with a degree in Legal Studies in 2020. She was a paralegal with a general practice firm for four years before attending law school. She was awarded the Missouri Lawyers Media Unsung Legal Heroes Honoree Award in 2021.
While in law school, Nyree worked as a law clerk for Legal Services of Eastern Missouri where she represented indigent clients facing termination of parental rights, eviction, and consumer debt collection. She also advocated on behalf of St. Louis City and St. Louis County residents in consumer utility administrative hearings. While at Legal Services of Eastern Missouri, Nyree co-authored Missouri’s Senior Handbook and Missouri's Homeless Youth Handbook.
Nyree was a lead editor on the Saint Louis University Journal of Health Law and Policy while in law school. Before graduating, Nyree collaborated with the St. Louis County Health Department and City of St. Louis Health Department in assessing and proposing public health-related policies to address inhabitable living conditions in public housing.
Nyree received her Juris Doctorate from Saint Louis University School of Law in 2024, with a concentration in health law.
Rhonda joined the Prosecutor's Office as a File Secretary in March, 1996. Before coming to Greene County, she spent five years working for the Clerk's Office of Harbor Justice Center in Orange County, California. In 1999, Rhonda was promoted to the Felony Person's Unit Secretary where she was responsible for calendaring and subpoenaing all of the felony persons' cases. In March of 2001, Rhonda was given the additional responsibility of Assistant Office Manager. As the Assistant Office Manager, Rhonda assisted in supervising the entire clerical staff. In November of 2010, with almost twenty years of legal clerical experience, Rhonda was promoted to Office Manager.
