The small claims court is a division of the circuit court presided over by an Associate Circuit Judge. The
small claims court was established to help people handle claims of $5000.00 or less with or without an
attorney. The clerks are there to help prepare the proper papers to file a claim and, if you win, to help
collect your money.
Small claims proceedings are informal in nature. You must fill out all required forms and present your own
evidence in court. There are no jury trials. Your local Clerk of the Associates Division can be contacted
for a copy of the Missouri Small Claims Court Handbook. Or, you can pick up a copy of the handbook at the
Greene County Judicial Facility 1010 N Boonville Ave Springfield, MO 65802. The phone number is (417) 868-4000.
