Comprehensive Plan Update

This fall, Greene County Planning & Zoning is kicking off an exciting project - updating the Comprehensive Plan! Once adopted, this document will serve as a long-term guide for land use, transportation, economic development, housing, historic preservation, and other essential government functions.

To accurately assess the community's needs and goals, we need your input! If you have ever lived, worked, or traveled through Greene County and are invested in its continued growth, please take our survey. Your answers will be refined into actionable recommendations to best regulate land use across the county's rural and urban settings.

Kickoff Meetings & Community Engagement

Planning and Zoning staff hosted three kickoff meetings across Greene County to launch the Comprehensive Plan update and begin the conversation about the County’s future. The first meeting was held on September 25 in Rogersville at the Chamber of Commerce, followed by a session on October 2 at the Willard Fire Protection District, and the final meeting on October 9 at the Greene County Election Center.

Each meeting gave residents, community leaders, and local officials an opportunity to share their thoughts and learn more about the plan’s timeline and focus areas. The discussions were lively and insightful, setting a strong foundation for the next phase of the project. Moving forward, a steering committee will be formed to help shape goals and objectives that reflect the community’s vision for Greene County.
